About
POSTPONED
All 3 performances of FORTINBRAS originally scheduled for September 20-21 have been postponed. The play will be rescheduled for the 2025-2026 Season. Stay tuned.
Lee Blessing’s self-described 1991 “metaphysical farce,” FORTINBRAS, is a comic interplay of wry literary criticism and contemporary wit which takes up where William Shakespeare’s Hamlet left off. Young Fortinbras enters during the last scene of Hamlet only to order the bodies of the royal family shuffled off while he devises the best possible media blitz to legitimize his ascension to the throne of Denmark.
About Ubu’s Other Shoe & Staged Readings
In 2004, Michael Siebrass directed a staged reading of Gore Vidal’s thought provoking political satire, The Best Man, at SLO Little Theatre. 20 years and 119 plays later, we are thrilled to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of this challenging, thought-provoking and ground-breaking series of shows called Ubu’s Other Shoe! Our staged reading series is named after the infamous trilogy of plays written by Alred Jarry (Ubu Roi) that were banned from the stage after riots erupted on opening night. This exciting series of shows exists to off er actors, directors and audience members an opportunity to experience incredible plays that do not necessarily fit into our regular mainstage season.
