Pirates of Penzance, Jr. will take the Little Theatre stage tonight, kicking off the 2015-2016 Season with a delightful mixture of wit, whimsy and delightful music for the entire family. The talented, young students of the Academy of Creative Theatre, led by Director Shelagh Garren, Musical Director Lacey McNamara and Choreographer Molly McKiernan, have taken on one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most popular operettas and brought it beautifully to life.
From “the very model of a modern Major General” to Mabel and Frederic’s “Poor Wand’ring One”, the dashing Pirate King, and the hilariously bumbling police (“Tarantara!”) all of Gilbert & Sullivan’s classic characters and songs are here. This young performer’s version of Pirates of Penzance, Jr. is the perfect introduction to live theatre for your child or grandchild and a wonderful way to spend a summer afternoon or evening.
