Do you know how long it’s been since we’ve had a Mainstage Season Show on the Little Theatre stage? TWO MONTHS! It’s been two months since The Music Man closed a very successful four-week run. Â ACT’s Pirates of Penzance, Jr. was absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed spending the summer with some very silly pirates and a blustery Major General, but we’re ready for the 2015-2016 Season to officially blow your socks off with the opening of Sylvia this weekend!
I caught the dress rehearsal last night, while the incomparable Jamie Foster was snapping these awesome photos and I think we’ve got a hit on our hands. This delightful comedy by A.R. Gurney is directed by David Carey Foster and features the very talented Madeline Moeller as Sylvia, David Norum as Greg, Kristen Saunders as Kate and the hilarious Earnest Roberts as…well, you’ll just have to wait and see. Tickets are going very fast with the best seats available on Thursday nights, so I’d recommend making your reservations right NOW to ensure your seats. Sylvia is going to launch our 69th season with a “howling” good time for all!
You know how I mentioned that Sylvia is selling like hotcakes? It’s getting so full that we’ve decided to open up sales for our 5-Show Season Subscriptions early! You can purchase your 5-Show Season Subscription package starting on Monday, August 24th! There are still great seats available for all five, fabulous season shows, including How I Learned to Drive, The Foreigner, True West, Wit and Bye, Bye Birdie. PLUS you’ll want to be sure to add on your seats for Cabaret now. If you wait until the last minute, you just may be out of luck.
Time for the next round of auditions! The Foreigner is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen in my life. Truly. One of my all-time favorites. And now YOU have the chance of a lifetime! You can audition to be a part of our cast for this hilarious show, directed by Suzy Newman, running October 30-November 15. Auditions are Sunday, August 30 from 4:30-7:30 pm right here at the Little Theatre. There are 7 great roles available for 2 women and 5 men, all ages, all roles are open. Check out all the details on our auditions page and we hope to see you then!
Finally, if you know a kid who loves to be onstage, or even if you just think he or she might love it, given the right opportunity, we’ve got you covered! Fall After-School Classes for ages 5-18 with the Academy of Creative Theatre will begin September 15th. Education Director Kerry DiMaggio has gathered together some amazing teaching artists who love working with young artists, and registration will be open before the end of the week. Just keep watching the ACT After School Classes page on our website and the details will be posted very soon. Register online and watch your young thespian blossom on stage at the Little Theatre!
